إِذْ أَنْتُمْ بِالْعُدْوَةِ الدُّنْیا وَ هُمْ بِالْعُدْوَةِ الْقُصْوى‏ وَ الرَّکْبُ أَسْفَلَ مِنْکُمْ وَ لَوْ تَواعَدْتُمْ لاَخْتَلَفْتُمْ فِی الْمیعادِ وَ لکِنْ لِیَقْضِیَ اللَّهُ أَمْراً کانَ مَفْعُولاً لِیَهْلِکَ مَنْ هَلَکَ عَنْ بَیِّنَةٍ وَ یَحْیى‏ مَنْ حَیَّ عَنْ بَیِّنَةٍ وَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَسَمیعٌ عَلیمٌ (42  )

[ Remember ]When you,[ Muslims ]Were on the near side[ of the valley ]And the enemy were on the farthest Side of it, while the caravan[ of Quraish ]was in a lower ground than You; and if you mutually had made an Appointment,­ 1? certainly you Would have failed to fulfill it but[ you encountered with them by Allah"s Will ]in order that Allah might accomplish a matter which Had Ordained already; so that those Who should perish, may perish based On a clear proof and those who Should live, may live based on a clear Proof. And verily, Allah is The Knowing Hearer,[ on hearing The pleading of your soul, brought About the victory as a response. ]

إِذْ یُریکَهُمُ اللَّهُ فی‏ مَنامِکَ قَلیلاً وَ لَوْ أَراکَهُمْ کَثیراً لَفَشِلْتُمْ وَ لَتَنازَعْتُمْ فِی الْأَمْرِ وَ لکِنَّ اللَّهَ سَلَّمَ إِنَّهُ عَلیمٌ بِذاتِ الصُّدُورِ (43  )

[ O, Messenger ]Remember when Allah Showed them­ 2? to you in your dream as a Small group and if Allah had showed Them to you as many[ as they were ]Certainly you would have become Disheartened and certainly you would Have disputed about the matter, but Allah did save you[ through causing the Dream for you ]; verily, Allah is the Knower of what is in the hearts;

وَ إِذْ یُریکُمُوهُمْ إِذِ الْتَقَیْتُمْ فی‏ أَعْیُنِکُمْ قَلیلاً وَ یُقَلِّلُکُمْ فی‏ أَعْیُنِهِمْ لِیَقْضِیَ اللَّهُ أَمْراً کانَ مَفْعُولاً وَ إِلَى اللَّهِ تُرْجَعُ الْأُمُورُ (44  )

And[ remember ]when you,[ Muslims ]met[ the army of The disbelievers on the day of the Badr Battle ]: Allah made them appear to you As few in your eyes­ 1? and made you Appear as few in their eyes,­ 2? so that Allah might accomplish a matter already Ordained­ 3? and to Allah all matters are Referred.

یا أَیُّهَا الَّذینَ آمَنُوا إِذا لَقیتُمْ فِئَةً فَاثْبُتُوا وَ اذْکُرُوا اللَّهَ کَثیراً لَعَلَّکُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ (45  )

O, you who believe! When you meet an Enemy force, hold firm against them and Invoke severely to Allah"s Remembrance And Attributes that you may succeed;

وَ أَطیعُوا اللَّهَ وَ رَسُولَهُ وَ لا تَنازَعُوا فَتَفْشَلُوا وَ تَذْهَبَ ریحُکُمْ وَ اصْبِرُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الصَّابِرینَ (46  )

And obey Allah and Allah"s Messenger and do not quarrel with One another, lest you may get Weak-hearted and your spiritual power May go away; and be patient in Allah"s Way, surely Allah is the Supporter of The patient;

وَ لا تَکُونُوا کَالَّذینَ خَرَجُوا مِنْ دِیارِهِمْ بَطَراً وَ رِئاءَ النَّاسِ وَ یَصُدُّونَ عَنْ سَبیلِ اللَّهِ وَ اللَّهُ بِما یَعْمَلُونَ مُحیطٌ (47  )

And do not be like those who got out From their homes joyfully in order To show off to men and to hinder Others from Allah"s Way;­ 4? verily, Allah"s Knowledge does encompass what they Do.

وَ إِذْ زَیَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّیْطانُ أَعْمالَهُمْ وَ قالَ لا غالِبَ لَکُمُ الْیَوْمَ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَ إِنِّی جارٌ لَکُمْ فَلَمَّا تَراءَتِ الْفِئَتانِ نَکَصَ عَلى‏ عَقِبَیْهِ وَ قالَ إِنِّی بَری‏ءٌ مِنْکُمْ إِنِّی أَرى‏ ما لا تَرَوْنَ إِنِّی أَخافُ اللَّهَ وَ اللَّهُ شَدیدُ الْعِقابِ (48  )

And remember[ O, Messenger ]When Satan made their evil deeds Fair-seeming to them and said:" None Of Muslims can overcome you this day­ 1? And verily, I am near you and will Support you." But when the two hosts Met[ and Satan sensed the help of The Angels ], he ran away while saying:" Verily, I am clear of you; verily, I see That which you cannot see;­ 2? I fear Allah, And Allah is the Severe-Retributing."

إِذْ یَقُولُ الْمُنافِقُونَ وَ الَّذینَ فی‏ قُلُوبِهِمْ مَرَضٌ غَرَّ هؤُلاءِ دینُهُمْ وَ مَنْ یَتَوَکَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزیزٌ حَکیمٌ (49  )

Then the hypocrites and those in Whose hearts is a disease said:" These Muslims are deceived by their Religion." Whoever puts his trust in Allah[ will find that ], Allah is The Source-Wisdom Supreme power.

وَ لَوْ تَرى‏ إِذْ یَتَوَفَّى الَّذینَ کَفَرُوا الْمَلائِکَةُ یَضْرِبُونَ وُجُوهَهُمْ وَ أَدْبارَهُمْ وَ ذُوقُوا عَذابَ الْحَریقِ (50  )

And if only you[ O, Messenger ]could See when the Angels[ of death ]take Away the souls of the disbelievers, Smiting their faces and their backs[ Saying: ]" Taste you the Torment of The Blazing Fire!"

ذلِکَ بِما قَدَّمَتْ أَیْدیکُمْ وَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ لَیْسَ بِظَلاَّمٍ لِلْعَبیدِ (51  )

[ And the Angels will also tell Them: ]" This is because of that which Your hands have forwarded; and verily, Allah is the least unjust to His human Creatures."

کَدَأْبِ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ وَ الَّذینَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ کَفَرُوا بِآیاتِ اللَّهِ فَأَخَذَهُمُ اللَّهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَوِیٌّ شَدیدُ الْعِقابِ (52  )

Their behaviour is similar to that of The people of Firown and of those Disbelievers before them; they denied The Signs and Miracles of Allah, so Allah punished them for their sins. Verily, Allah is the Powerful Severe-Retributing;

ذلِکَ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ لَمْ یَکُ مُغَیِّراً نِعْمَةً أَنْعَمَها عَلى‏ قَوْمٍ حَتَّى یُغَیِّرُوا ما بِأَنْفُسِهِمْ وَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ سَمیعٌ عَلیمٌ (53  )

This indicate that Allah will never Change the bounty which has Bestowed upon a people unless they Change what is in themselves;[ out of Rebellion ]and verily, Allah is The Knowing Hearer:

کَدَأْبِ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ وَ الَّذینَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْ کَذَّبُوا بِآیاتِ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَهْلَکْناهُمْ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ وَ أَغْرَقْنا آلَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَ کُلٌّ کانُوا ظالِمینَ (54  )

The manner of Quraish is similar to that Of the people of Firown and of those Disbelievers before them: They belied The Signs of their Creator, so We Destroyed them for their sins and We Drowned the people of Firown; because They all were self-oppressors i. e., Disbelievers;­ 1?

کَیْفَ وَ إِنْ یَظْهَرُوا عَلَیْکُمْ لا یَرْقُبُوا فیکُمْ إِلاًّ وَ لا ذِمَّةً یُرْضُونَکُمْ بِأَفْواهِهِمْ وَ تَأْبى‏ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَ أَکْثَرُهُمْ فاسِقُونَ (8  )

How[ can there be a covenant With them ]whereas when you are Overpowered by them, they do not Regard the ties, either of kinship or of Covenant with you? They only please You with nice words with their mouths, But their hearts are averse from you; And most of them are rebellious and Corrupt;

اشْتَرَوْا بِآیاتِ اللَّهِ ثَمَناً قَلیلاً فَصَدُّوا عَنْ سَبیلِهِ إِنَّهُمْ ساءَ ما کانُوا یَعْمَلُونَ (9  )

They have sold Allah"s Words of Revelation for a mean price and they Hindered men from Allah"s Way; evil Indeed is what they have done;

لا یَرْقُبُونَ فی‏ مُؤْمِنٍ إِلاًّ وَ لا ذِمَّةً وَ أُولئِکَ هُمُ الْمُعْتَدُونَ (10  )

They do not pay any respect in the case Of a believer, neither the ties nor The covenants; and these are indeed The transgressors;

فَإِنْ تابُوا وَ أَقامُوا الصَّلاةَ وَ آتَوُا الزَّکاةَ فَإِخْوانُکُمْ فِی الدِّینِ وَ نُفَصِّلُ الْآیاتِ لِقَوْمٍ یَعْلَمُونَ (11  )

But if they repent, and perform prayers Regularly and pay alms, then they are Your brothers in religion. Thus, We Explain the Words of Revelation in Detail for those who know;

وَ إِنْ نَکَثُوا أَیْمانَهُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِ عَهْدِهِمْ وَ طَعَنُوا فی‏ دینِکُمْ فَقاتِلُوا أَئِمَّةَ الْکُفْرِ إِنَّهُمْ لا أَیْمانَ لَهُمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ یَنْتَهُونَ (12  )

But if they break their oaths after Their covenant and treat your religion With taunt, then fight the chiefs of The disbelievers who have no respect for Their oaths, so that they may desist[ Breaking their oaths and agreements ];

أَ لا تُقاتِلُونَ قَوْماً نَکَثُوا أَیْمانَهُمْ وَ هَمُّوا بِإِخْراجِ الرَّسُولِ وَ هُمْ بَدَؤُکُمْ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ أَ تَخْشَوْنَهُمْ فَاللَّهُ أَحَقُّ أَنْ تَخْشَوْهُ إِنْ کُنْتُمْ مُؤْمِنینَ (13  )

Why do you not fight a people Who broke their oaths and intended To expel the Messenger from the land And the ones who attacked you first? Do you fear them? Whereas fearing From Allah is what matters, if you are Believers indeed;

قاتِلُوهُمْ یُعَذِّبْهُمُ اللَّهُ بِأَیْدیکُمْ وَ یُخْزِهِمْ وَ یَنْصُرْکُمْ عَلَیْهِمْ وَ یَشْفِ صُدُورَ قَوْمٍ مُؤْمِنینَ (14  )

Fight them,­ 1? and Allah will chastise Them by your hands, and will cause Disgrace to them, and will help you To overcome them, and will relieve The hearts of the believers[ by defeating The disbelievers ];

وَ یُذْهِبْ غَیْظَ قُلُوبِهِمْ وَ یَتُوبُ اللَّهُ عَلى‏ مَنْ یَشاءُ وَ اللَّهُ عَلیمٌ حَکیمٌ (15  )

And will remove the rage of The[ believers" ]hearts. And Allah Accepts repentance from whomsoever He Wills; since verily, Allah is The Knowing Judge and Decreer;

أَمْ حَسِبْتُمْ أَنْ تُتْرَکُوا وَ لَمَّا یَعْلَمِ اللَّهُ الَّذینَ جاهَدُوا مِنْکُمْ وَ لَمْ یَتَّخِذُوا مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ وَ لا رَسُولِهِ وَ لاَ الْمُؤْمِنینَ وَلیجَةً وَ اللَّهُ خَبیرٌ بِما تَعْمَلُونَ (16  )

Do you think that you will be left away, While Allah has not made known those Of you who strove hard and did not take Any one as an intimate friend besides Allah and Allah"s Messenger and The believers? And[ know that ]Allah is Informed of what you do.

ما کانَ لِلْمُشْرِکینَ أَنْ یَعْمُرُوا مَساجِدَ اللَّهِ شاهِدینَ عَلى‏ أَنْفُسِهِمْ بِالْکُفْرِ أُولئِکَ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمالُهُمْ وَ فِی النَّارِ هُمْ خالِدُونَ (17  )

The idolaters have no right To maintain the mosques of Allah, while Bearing witness against themselves Regarding their disbelief; as for such, Their deeds are vain and in the Fire they Shall abide;

إِنَّما یَعْمُرُ مَساجِدَ اللَّهِ مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَ الْیَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَ أَقامَ الصَّلاةَ وَ آتَى الزَّکاةَ وَ لَمْ یَخْشَ إِلاَّ اللَّهَ فَعَسى‏ أُولئِکَ أَنْ یَکُونُوا مِنَ الْمُهْتَدینَ (18  )

The mosques of Allah should be Maintained only by those who believe In Allah and the Last Day; those who Perform their prayers regularly and pay Alms and fear none but Allah The Almighty; they are the ones who Expect to be on the true guidance;

أَ جَعَلْتُمْ سِقایَةَ الْحاجِّ وَ عِمارَةَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرامِ کَمَنْ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَ الْیَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَ جاهَدَ فی‏ سَبیلِ اللَّهِ لا یَسْتَوُونَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ وَ اللَّهُ لا یَهْدِی الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمینَ (19  )

Do you consider providing drinking Water for the pilgrims and The maintenance of the Sacred Mosque As equal to the efforts of those who Believe in Allah and the Last Day, and Strive hard and fight in the Path of Allah? They are not equal in the Sight Of Allah and Allah does not guide The self-oppressing people;­ 1?

الَّذینَ آمَنُوا وَ هاجَرُوا وَ جاهَدُوا فی‏ سَبیلِ اللَّهِ بِأَمْوالِهِمْ وَ أَنْفُسِهِمْ أَعْظَمُ دَرَجَةً عِنْدَ اللَّهِ وَ أُولئِکَ هُمُ الْفائِزُونَ (20  )

Those who believed and migrated And strove hard and fought in Allah"s Way with their properties and their Lives, have the highest degree in Allah"s Sight; they are indeed the ones Who will receive salvation;

یُبَشِّرُهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ بِرَحْمَةٍ مِنْهُ وَ رِضْوانٍ وَ جَنَّاتٍ لَهُمْ فیها نَعیمٌ مُقیمٌ (21  )

Their Creator and Nurturer grants[ to such Believers ]glad-tidings of a Grace and Pleasure from His Presence, and of The Gardens­ 2? with the Lasting Blessings Which will be theirs;

خالِدینَ فیها أَبَداً إِنَّ اللَّهَ عِنْدَهُ أَجْرٌ عَظیمٌ (22  )

[ Such believers ]will abide therein Forever. Verily, in Allah"s Presence is The Great Reward.

یا أَیُّهَا الَّذینَ آمَنُوا لا تَتَّخِذُوا آباءَکُمْ وَ إِخْوانَکُمْ أَوْلِیاءَ إِنِ اسْتَحَبُّوا الْکُفْرَ عَلَى الْإیمانِ وَ مَنْ یَتَوَلَّهُمْ مِنْکُمْ فَأُولئِکَ هُمُ الظَّالِمُونَ (23  )

O, you who believe! Do not take For supporters, your father and your Brothers if they prefer disbelief to Belief; if any of you does so, then he is Also regarded as one of the disbelievers;

1. Here, Zalemin means the disbelievers because

by denying the Truth and doing wrong they make themselves entitled to receive the Divine Chastisement and thus they do wrong to themselves.

2. The Paradise

وَ الَّذینَ آمَنُوا وَ هاجَرُوا وَ جاهَدُوا فی‏ سَبیلِ اللَّهِ وَ الَّذینَ آوَوْا وَ نَصَرُوا أُولئِکَ هُمُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ حَقًّا لَهُمْ مَغْفِرَةٌ وَ رِزْقٌ کَریمٌ (74  )

And those who believed and Migrated and strove hard in the Path Of Allah, as well as those who gave Them refuge and aid, these are the true Believers; for them, there will Be Forgiveness and a generous Sustenance[ from their Creator and Nurturer ];

وَ الَّذینَ آمَنُوا مِنْ بَعْدُ وَ هاجَرُوا وَ جاهَدُوا مَعَکُمْ فَأُولئِکَ مِنْکُمْ وَ أُولُوا الْأَرْحامِ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلى‏ بِبَعْضٍ فی‏ کِتابِ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بِکُلِّ شَیْ‏ءٍ عَلیمٌ (75  )

And those who accepted Faith[ in Islam ]Afterwards, and migrated and fought for Their Faith along with you, they are of You; but relatives are nearer to each Other in the Book of Allah;­ 1? verily, Allah is the Absolute Knower of all Things.

At-Taubah

­ 1?( Repentance )or Baraat

سورةُ التّوبَة

بَراءَةٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَ رَسُولِهِ إِلَى الَّذینَ عاهَدْتُمْ مِنَ الْمُشْرِکینَ (1  )

[ By this Decree ]Disdain and freedom From obligation is proclaimed from Allah and His Messenger towards The idolaters with whom you,[ Muslims ]Have made a covenant,[ and they have Frequently violated the covenants ]

فَسیحُوا فِی الْأَرْضِ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَ اعْلَمُوا أَنَّکُمْ غَیْرُ مُعْجِزِی اللَّهِ وَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ مُخْزِی الْکافِرینَ (2  )

So you,[ pagans ]go about on the earth For four months­ 2? and know that you are Not able to weaken and frustrate Allah"s Power, and that Allah is the One Who Causes disgrace to the disbelievers.

1. This is the only Surah of the Holy Qur"an which

does not begin with Bismellah, because according to Imam Ali( AS ), Bismellah, i. e., In the Name of

Allah is security-bestower whereas this Surah proclaims the Divine Wrath against the disbelievers.

2. The Sacred Months wherein fighting is forbidden

and they are: The first, the seventh, the eleventh and the twelfth months of the Islamic calendar.

وَ أَذانٌ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَ رَسُولِهِ إِلَى النَّاسِ یَوْمَ الْحَجِّ الْأَکْبَرِ أَنَّ اللَّهَ بَری‏ءٌ مِنَ الْمُشْرِکینَ وَ رَسُولُهُ فَإِنْ تُبْتُمْ فَهُوَ خَیْرٌ لَکُمْ وَ إِنْ تَوَلَّیْتُمْ فَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّکُمْ غَیْرُ مُعْجِزِی اللَّهِ وَ بَشِّرِ الَّذینَ کَفَرُوا بِعَذابٍ أَلیمٍ (3  )

And this is a proclamation from Allah and His Messenger to all people On the Day of the Greater Pilgrimage:­ 1? Allah and His Messenger dissolve Treaty obligations with the idolaters; so If you,[ idolaters ]repent, it will be Better for you, but if you turn away From Faith, then know that you cannot Weaken and frustrate Allah"s Power, and[ O, Messenger ]give tidings of a painful Chastisement to those who disbelieved;

إِلاَّ الَّذینَ عاهَدْتُمْ مِنَ الْمُشْرِکینَ ثُمَّ لَمْ یَنْقُصُوکُمْ شَیْئاً وَ لَمْ یُظاهِرُوا عَلَیْکُمْ أَحَداً فَأَتِمُّوا إِلَیْهِمْ عَهْدَهُمْ إِلى‏ مُدَّتِهِمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ یُحِبُّ الْمُتَّقینَ (4  )

Except those idolaters, with whom you Have a treaty; and who have not failed You in any way, nor have supported any One against you, so fulfill their treaty to The end of their term; verily, Allah is Affectionate to the pious.

1. The pagan tribes of Arabia broke their peace

treaties with the Muslims frequently to the extent that the believers found it impossible to go on having covenant of peace with those who took advantage of their Islamic peaceful manner and violated their treaties any time they fancied or had power to attack. Allah, the Knowing Hearer, responded to the

petition of the believers by Al-Baraat which was recited by Ali( AS )to the people, on the Day of Greater Pilgrimage or the Day of Sacrifice. By the

order of the Holy Messenger, Ali( AS )also made it clear through his further announcement that apart from cancellation of treaties with the idolater tribes by the Muslims, the idolaters were forbidden from then on to approach the Sacred Mosque as well as to take part in the Hajj Pilgrimage, also they were forbidden to circumambulate round the Ka"bah while naked.

Translation(Saffarzadeh), Page: 382

فَإِذَا انْسَلَخَ الْأَشْهُرُ الْحُرُمُ فَاقْتُلُوا الْمُشْرِکینَ حَیْثُ وَجَدْتُمُوهُمْ وَ خُذُوهُمْ وَ احْصُرُوهُمْ وَ اقْعُدُوا لَهُمْ کُلَّ مَرْصَدٍ فَإِنْ تابُوا وَ أَقامُوا الصَّلاةَ وَ آتَوُا الزَّکاةَ فَخَلُّوا سَبیلَهُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَحیمٌ (5  )

So when the Sacred Months are Passed, then slay the idolaters Wherever you find them, and seize Them and besiege them and wait for Them to capture them in every corner,­ 1? But if they repent and establish prayer And pay alms to the poor, then leave Them free in their affairs; verily, Allah Is the Merciful Forgiving.

وَ إِنْ أَحَدٌ مِنَ الْمُشْرِکینَ اسْتَجارَکَ فَأَجِرْهُ حَتَّى یَسْمَعَ کَلامَ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ أَبْلِغْهُ مَأْمَنَهُ ذلِکَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لا یَعْلَمُونَ (6  )

And if any one of the idolaters Seeks refuge in you,[ O, Messenger ]Grant him, so that he may hear The Word of Allah­ 2? and then escort him To where he can be secured, that is Because they are a people who lack Knowledge[ and their disbelief is due to Their ignorance ]

کَیْفَ یَکُونُ لِلْمُشْرِکینَ عَهْدٌ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ وَ عِنْدَ رَسُولِهِ إِلاَّ الَّذینَ عاهَدْتُمْ عِنْدَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرامِ فَمَا اسْتَقامُوا لَکُمْ فَاسْتَقیمُوا لَهُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ یُحِبُّ الْمُتَّقینَ (7  )

How can the pagans have a covenant With Allah and Allah"s Messenger? Those with whom you made a covenant Near the Sacred Mosque[ at Makkah ]so Long as they are faithful to their Covenant, you too be faithful to your Covenant; verily, Allah does like The pious;

قُلْ إِنْ کانَ آباؤُکُمْ وَ أَبْناؤُکُمْ وَ إِخْوانُکُمْ وَ أَزْواجُکُمْ وَ عَشیرَتُکُمْ وَ أَمْوالٌ اقْتَرَفْتُمُوها وَ تِجارَةٌ تَخْشَوْنَ کَسادَها وَ مَساکِنُ تَرْضَوْنَها أَحَبَّ إِلَیْکُمْ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَ رَسُولِهِ وَ جِهادٍ فی‏ سَبیلِهِ فَتَرَبَّصُوا حَتَّى یَأْتِیَ اللَّهُ بِأَمْرِهِ وَ اللَّهُ لا یَهْدِی الْقَوْمَ الْفاسِقینَ (24  )

Say[ O, Messenger! ]:" If your Father and your sons and your Brothers and your spouses and your Kinsmen and the wealth which you Have gathered and the trade that its Decline fears you and the buildings In which you feel delighted and Comfortable, are to you dearer than Allah and His Messenger and fighting In Allah"s Way, then wait until Allah Brings about His Command; and verily, Allah does not guide the disobedient People."

لَقَدْ نَصَرَکُمُ اللَّهُ فی‏ مَواطِنَ کَثیرَةٍ وَ یَوْمَ حُنَیْنٍ إِذْ أَعْجَبَتْکُمْ کَثْرَتُکُمْ فَلَمْ تُغْنِ عَنْکُمْ شَیْئاً وَ ضاقَتْ عَلَیْکُمُ الْأَرْضُ بِما رَحُبَتْ ثُمَّ وَلَّیْتُمْ مُدْبِرینَ (25  )

Truly, Allah granted you Aid in Many battlefields; and on the day of Hunain[ battle ]when you rejoiced your Great number; but it did not avail you At all and the earth, despite its Vastness, seemed straitened for you, Then you turned back in flight;

Translation(Saffarzadeh), Page: 388

ثُمَّ أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ سَکینَتَهُ عَلى‏ رَسُولِهِ وَ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنینَ وَ أَنْزَلَ جُنُوداً لَمْ تَرَوْها وَ عَذَّبَ الَّذینَ کَفَرُوا وَ ذلِکَ جَزاءُ الْکافِرینَ (26  )

Then, Allah sent down His Divine Tranquility on the Messenger and on The believers and sent down forces­ 1? Which you could not see them,[ being Invisible ]; and Allah punished The disbelievers severely; and such is The recompense for the disbelievers;

ثُمَّ یَتُوبُ اللَّهُ مِنْ بَعْدِ ذلِکَ عَلى‏ مَنْ یَشاءُ وَ اللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَحیمٌ (27  )

Yet, after that Allah will again accept Repentance from whom He Wills; and Allah is the Merciful Forgiving.

یا أَیُّهَا الَّذینَ آمَنُوا إِنَّمَا الْمُشْرِکُونَ نَجَسٌ فَلا یَقْرَبُوا الْمَسْجِدَ الْحَرامَ بَعْدَ عامِهِمْ هذا وَ إِنْ خِفْتُمْ عَیْلَةً فَسَوْفَ یُغْنیکُمُ اللَّهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ إِنْ شاءَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلیمٌ حَکیمٌ (28  )

O, you who believe! Verily, The idolaters are impure and filthy, so They should not approach the Sacred Mosque after this year; and if you fear Poverty[ due to cutting off trade with Them ], know that Allah will enrich you Out of His Bounty, if He Wills; verily, Allah is the Knowing Decreer.

قاتِلُوا الَّذینَ لا یُؤْمِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَ لا بِالْیَوْمِ الْآخِرِ وَ لا یُحَرِّمُونَ ما حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ وَ رَسُولُهُ وَ لا یَدینُونَ دینَ الْحَقِّ مِنَ الَّذینَ أُوتُوا الْکِتابَ حَتَّى یُعْطُوا الْجِزْیَةَ عَنْ یَدٍ وَ هُمْ صاغِرُونَ (29  )

[ O, you Muslims! ]Fight those From among the people of the Book, Who do not believe in Allah and nor in The Last Day and those who do not Prohibit what Allah and His Messenger Have prohibited and those who do not Follow the Religion of Truth,­ 1? Until they pay tributary tax­ 2? with their Own hands, while feeling subjected And disgraced.

وَ قالَتِ الْیَهُودُ عُزَیْرٌ ابْنُ اللَّهِ وَ قالَتِ النَّصارى‏ الْمَسیحُ ابْنُ اللَّهِ ذلِکَ قَوْلُهُمْ بِأَفْواهِهِمْ یُضاهِؤُنَ قَوْلَ الَّذینَ کَفَرُوا مِنْ قَبْلُ قاتَلَهُمُ اللَّهُ أَنَّى یُؤْفَکُونَ (30  )

And the Jews say:" Ozair is the son Of Allah." The Christians say:" Massih Is the son of Allah." These words That they utter by their mouths are Very similar to what the disbelievers Before them used to say; be they Killed by Allah, how they are Perverse from the Truth?

اتَّخَذُوا أَحْبارَهُمْ وَ رُهْبانَهُمْ أَرْباباً مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ وَ الْمَسیحَ ابْنَ مَرْیَمَ وَ ما أُمِرُوا إِلاَّ لِیَعْبُدُوا إِلهاً واحِداً لا إِلهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ سُبْحانَهُ عَمَّا یُشْرِکُونَ (31  )

They­ 3? took their rabbis and their Monks as their gods besides Allah and Also Issa, son of Maryam, while they Were Commanded[ in the Taurat and The Injil ]to worship none but Allah The One. Allah is the Absolute pure And Exalted from having any partner;

یُریدُونَ أَنْ یُطْفِؤُا نُورَ اللَّهِ بِأَفْواهِهِمْ وَ یَأْبَى اللَّهُ إِلاَّ أَنْ یُتِمَّ نُورَهُ وَ لَوْ کَرِهَ الْکافِرُونَ (32  )

They desire to blow Allah"s Great Light with their mouths,­ 4? but Allah"s Will is to let His Light be manifest Perfectly, no matter how much The disbelievers may dislike it;

هُوَ الَّذی أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُ بِالْهُدى‏ وَ دینِ الْحَقِّ لِیُظْهِرَهُ عَلَى الدِّینِ کُلِّهِ وَ لَوْ کَرِهَ الْمُشْرِکُونَ (33  )

Allah is the One Who has sent His Messenger with Guidance and The Religion of Truth­ 1? to overshine all Religions by it,­ 2? though the polytheists May dislike it.

یا أَیُّهَا الَّذینَ آمَنُوا إِنَّ کَثیراً مِنَ الْأَحْبارِ وَ الرُّهْبانِ لَیَأْکُلُونَ أَمْوالَ النَّاسِ بِالْباطِلِ وَ یَصُدُّونَ عَنْ سَبیلِ اللَّهِ وَ الَّذینَ یَکْنِزُونَ الذَّهَبَ وَ الْفِضَّةَ وَ لا یُنْفِقُونَها فی‏ سَبیلِ اللَّهِ فَبَشِّرْهُمْ بِعَذابٍ أَلیمٍ (34  )

O, believers! Many of the rabbis And the priests consume the properties Of the people in vanity and hinder Them from Allah"s Way.[ O, Messenger ], Give good tidings of a painful Chastisement to those who pile up gold And silver and do not spend them in Allah"s Way;

یَوْمَ یُحْمى‏ عَلَیْها فی‏ نارِ جَهَنَّمَ فَتُکْوى‏ بِها جِباهُهُمْ وَ جُنُوبُهُمْ وَ ظُهُورُهُمْ هذا ما کَنَزْتُمْ لِأَنْفُسِکُمْ فَذُوقُوا ما کُنْتُمْ تَکْنِزُونَ (35  )

On the Day when that gold and Silver will be heated in the Fire and With them, will be branded their Foreheads, their sides, and their backs[ And will be said to them: ]" This is The treasure which you piled up for Yourselves; now taste of what you Were piling up!"

إِنَّ عِدَّةَ الشُّهُورِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ اثْنا عَشَرَ شَهْراً فی‏ کِتابِ اللَّهِ یَوْمَ خَلَقَ السَّماواتِ وَ الْأَرْضَ مِنْها أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٌ ذلِکَ الدِّینُ الْقَیِّمُ فَلا تَظْلِمُوا فیهِنَّ أَنْفُسَکُمْ وَ قاتِلُوا الْمُشْرِکینَ کَافَّةً کَما یُقاتِلُونَکُمْ کَافَّةً وَ اعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ مَعَ الْمُتَّقینَ (36  )

Verily, the number of months in Allah"s Book of Knowledge is Twelve[ in a year ], it was so Ordained by Allah on the Day when He Created the heavens and the earth; Four of these months are Sacred; That is the established rite; so do not Wrong yourselves therein.­ 1? And fight Against the disbelievers collectively, as They fight against you collectively; and Know that Allah is the Supporter of The pious.

إِنَّمَا النَّسی‏ءُ زِیادَةٌ فِی الْکُفْرِ یُضَلُّ بِهِ الَّذینَ کَفَرُوا یُحِلُّونَهُ عاماً وَ یُحَرِّمُونَهُ عاماً لِیُواطِؤُا عِدَّةَ ما حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ فَیُحِلُّوا ما حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ زُیِّنَ لَهُمْ سُوءُ أَعْمالِهِمْ وَ اللَّهُ لا یَهْدِی الْقَوْمَ الْکافِرینَ (37  )

Verily, the transposition of a Sacred Month adds indeed to disbelief: Thereby the disbelievers are led to More astray, for they consider it lawful One year and forbidden another year In order to adjust the number of Months forbidden by Allah and make The forbidden ones lawful. Their evil deeds have been made Fair-seeming to them,[ by Satan ]And Allah does not guide The disbelievers.

إِنَّ شَرَّ الدَّوَابِّ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ الَّذینَ کَفَرُوا فَهُمْ لا یُؤْمِنُونَ (55  )

Verily, the worst of the moving Creatures in the Sight of Allah are Those who disbelieve and they will Never believe;

الَّذینَ عاهَدْتَ مِنْهُمْ ثُمَّ یَنْقُضُونَ عَهْدَهُمْ فی‏ کُلِّ مَرَّةٍ وَ هُمْ لا یَتَّقُونَ (56  )

[ O, Messenger! ]They are those With whom you made a covenant, but They broke the covenant every time And there is no piety in them;

فَإِمَّا تَثْقَفَنَّهُمْ فِی الْحَرْبِ فَشَرِّدْ بِهِمْ مَنْ خَلْفَهُمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ یَذَّکَّرُونَ (57  )

So, if you could get hold of them In the battlefield, punish them severely In order to disperse those groups behind Them so that they may learn a lesson.

وَ إِمَّا تَخافَنَّ مِنْ قَوْمٍ خِیانَةً فَانْبِذْ إِلَیْهِمْ عَلى‏ سَواءٍ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لا یُحِبُّ الْخائِنینَ (58  )

And if you[ O, Messenger ]fear Treachery from any people, throw Back their covenant to them on terms Of mutuality, for Allah dislikes The traitors.

وَ لا یَحْسَبَنَّ الَّذینَ کَفَرُوا سَبَقُوا إِنَّهُمْ لا یُعْجِزُونَ (59  )

And those who disbelieved should not Think that they can overcome you:­ 1? Verily, they will never be able To frustrate Allah"s Power.

وَ أَعِدُّوا لَهُمْ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ مِنْ قُوَّةٍ وَ مِنْ رِباطِ الْخَیْلِ تُرْهِبُونَ بِهِ عَدُوَّ اللَّهِ وَ عَدُوَّکُمْ وَ آخَرینَ مِنْ دُونِهِمْ لا تَعْلَمُونَهُمُ اللَّهُ یَعْلَمُهُمْ وَ ما تُنْفِقُوا مِنْ شَیْ‏ءٍ فی‏ سَبیلِ اللَّهِ یُوَفَّ إِلَیْکُمْ وَ أَنْتُمْ لا تُظْلَمُونَ (60  )

And[ to fight the enemy ]prepare Against them to the utmost, such as Armed forces and strong horses and Provisions for fighting, in order To frighten the enemy of Allah as Well as your own enemy and others Besides them, whom you do not know Them but Allah knows them; and Whatever you spend in Allah"s Way­ 1? Will be repaid to you and you shall not Be dealt with, unjustly;

وَ إِنْ جَنَحُوا لِلسَّلْمِ فَاجْنَحْ لَها وَ تَوَکَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمیعُ الْعَلیمُ (61  )
